One of the main things that makes Northmoor different to lots of other laundrettes is that we can offer access to
the internet. So whilst you are waiting for your washing to finish you can get yourself a cup
of tea or coffee and check your emails.

The workers in the Laundrette are there to help you get going on the internet and will be up to date
with all the links on the site. So if you have a question to ask, if they can not answer it themselves
they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Use of the internet is charged at the very reasonable rate of 50p for half an hour.

Technology

There are a few differences about the way we have set up our hardware and softward for this
InternetCafe. It is powered by Linux and some old reused / recycled computersLinux is a free, open
source alternative to Microsoft Windows.Linux Terminal Server Project allows you to connect lots
of low-powered thin client terminals (old PCs with no hard drive) to a Linux server. This
means oldcomputers remain useful rather than going to the dump saving money and the worlds
resources. Northmoor Laundrette could not have afforded to have set up this Internet Cafe if they had not
used this inovative IT solution.
